A member of the Royal Cambrian Academy and the Watercolour Society of Wales, Rob Piecry has been paintng professionally since the early 1980s. He left his teaching post to concentrate solely on his painting in 1989. He is also an experienced mountaineer, having climbed throughout Europe and is a member of the Alpine Club of Great Britain.
High ridges, cwms and crags have a special appeal for him and is now recognised as one of the premier mountain painters of the British Isles. In this collection, he turns to his native Snowdonia for inspiration.
130 colour paintings (including many new works to be exhibited at the National Eisteddfod in Cardiff in August) with a section for each Snowdonia mountain range and other sections about the landscape watercolorist's craft, as well as some of his favourite locations and features in Snowdonia. Also, his work is full of anecdotes and interesting snippets about his art and what fascinates him about Snowdonia.
'Rob cares instinctively for Snowdonia. A rock climber and a mountaineer, he has a deep and intimate understanding of his chosen mountains. His palette has unlocked the sleepy, rounded bulk of Carneddau, chasms and ledges of Glyderau and depths of Snowdon's lakes. In leaving his mark on this landscape, Rob has shared his passion with a wide and appreciative audience.'
