His other accolades include being a founder member of the Friends of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich; his position as Secretary of the West Wales Maritime Heritage Society; a seat on the Council of MOROL, the Institute of Welsh Maritime History Studies; and having written several books on maritime history, including Down the Slipway: Ships of Pembrokeshires Secret Waterway, Of Monks and Seawolves and A History of Nash and Upton Parishes.
