Further Information:
The author of this guide admits that he has ‘never been much for wearing my heart on my sleeve, but cycling the lanes and tracks of Snowdonia, from Conwy to Machynlleth, Bala to Caernarfon, many’s the time I’ve stopped and stared in wonder and my spirits have been lifted. Cycling in Snowdonia is not easy, but it makes you feel alive and glad to be here on earth.’
Although the mountainous character of the country makes cycling in Snowdonia more arduous than usual, it is by no means impossible. With a little effort and a little knowledge, cycling in Snowdonia is simply stunning. This guide offers just that.
The ‘runs’ it describes include the official routes that attract so many cyclists: the trails (Lôn Eifion, Lôn Ardudwy, Llwybr Mawddach), Lôn Las Menai and Lôn Las Ogwen) and the Sustrans routes, Route 5 along the north coast and Route 8 south from Bangor. On other ‘discovered’ runs, the author shares his favourite tours through this marvellous landscape.
