He tells of the largest enterprises like Parys Mountain on Anglesey, of the era when Swansea was known as ‘Copperopolis’, and of many small mines elsewhere in Wales, and we get to know the characters involved, be they rich owners, struggling businessmen, or the men, women and children who worked in the mines.

The book is illustrated with photographs and maps, and there is a geological introduction by John S. Mason, BSc, MPhil.
